A flowing bubble? A melting mirror? A glittery water drop? A bending clock? A fluffy plant?

In this specious world, everything looks familiar yet being twisted. Vann extends her material language and aesthetics into a surreal home setting, juxtaposing jewellery with our everyday surroundings. The jewellery-transformed objects present a universe of materiality; together they describe a composition of vivid colours, metamorphic shapes and unusual surface textures.

What does surreal mean? A surreal world combines dreams and reality to create illogical images. It is an artistic style that emphasizes intuition and subconsciousness.

Vann Kwok

Vann Kwok (b.1983) is an international award-winning jewellery designer from Hong Kong. With a background in fashion design, she extends her interest towards transforming objects into various mediums of art. In 2015, she finished her MA studies in London with a contemporary jewellery collection ‘Out of Flux’, which was awarded The ITS Jewellery Prize in Italy and Jewellery Award from The Arts Foundation in the UK in 2016. Since then Kwok’s work has been exhibited in London, Venice, Trieste, Amsterdam and Antwerp. The exposure to rich cultural diversity has led Kwok to constantly question what defines her and her designs, and prompted her to use her work to embrace the past, embody the present and inspire for the future. She decides to use jewellery as a platform to discuss heritage vs innovation, man vs machine and fashion vs art.
